Vivian Jones - Mayor, Wake Forest

Heather Scott has been the first School Board member during my time as Mayor of Wake Forest who has taken the time to build a stronger relationship between the WCPSS schools and our town. She knows how important it is to listen to our thoughts and work together.

"The work these candidates are doing to strengthen our communities and ensure that every child receives a quality public education is to be commended. An endorsement by Wake NCAE lets voters know that we value the candidates’ commitment to creating conditions that both allow public school communities to thrive and nurture the learning environments Wake County’s children and citizens deserve."

James Roberson - Mayor, Knightdale

As Mayor of Knightdale, I greatly value the importance of a public school system to support our business community. We are one of the fastest growing towns in North Carolina and I am thankful that Heather shares our vision. She is hard-working and cares so deeply our schools - which she demonstrates by always being present at our events and taking the time to listen.

Frank Eagles - Former Mayor, Rolesville

During my time as Mayor of Rolesville, I valued education just as much - if not more - than many of the other issues that our rapidly-growing town was facing. Heather shares that value and knows how important it is to have strong schools in our community. Since I've retired, I have been focusing even more to address food security in Wake County, and Heather was there to help right away. She's always there whenever we need her.

Adam Wright - Wake Forest Commissioner

One of the reasons I ran for Town Commissioner was to be a voice for people who felt unheard. I listened to thousands of people on the campaign trail, and I serve with that same intention on the Board of Commissioners. Every time I have talked to Heather Scott about our town - from growth to partnerships - I appreciate how much she listens. We have been able to have productive conversations to help with planning, and I appreciate how hard she works.

Ben McDonald - Knightdale Town Council

I'm thrilled to support Heather Scott for re-election to the Wake County School Board. Heather has been a tireless advocate for public schools in Knightdale and all of District 1. She takes the time to get to know the communities that she represents. Most importantly Heather truly believes in the mission of public schools and she understands where we've been and where we need to go as a school system. With public education up against so many competing interests that seek to tear it down the importance of having school leaders who understand the mission and who walk the talk has never been more important than right now!

She has been a great advocate for our children, and I am proud to endorse her for reelection to the School Board.

She knows the issues facing the school district and looks for creative and fair ways to get things done. It is an honor to endorse Heather for a second term on the Wake County Board of Education.

Indy Weekly (2018)

“We’re endorsing Scott, who’s spent the last two decades teaching music education. But Scott, who has two kids in public schools, including one involved in the 504 program that accommodates students with disabilities, impressed us with her deep knowledge of issues like racial disparities in suspensions and the problems associated with the school assignment process. Scott has our vote.”

Endorsement for Heather Scott

It is my pleasure as Superintendent of Greensburg Schools in Greensburg, Indiana to endorse Mrs. Scott for a school board position.  Although it has been many years since she taught band in our school district she is still remembered for her attitude and vibrant spirit with students.  She was a first year band director at a junior high school and handled the job with great ability.  She had an effective way of instructing and built very positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.  Her teaching experience and relationship building skills should lend themselves to helping her become an outstanding school board member.  I would highly endorse her for a school board position.

Former Principal, Bishop Noll Institute (2018)

It is my pleasure to endorse Heather Scott for the Wake County School Board.  As a long time school administrator, I am fully confident that she will be a board member who makes a difference in the lives of students.  As her former principal, I can attest to the transformational experience students had in her classroom.  Heather inherited a failing music program in both vocal and instrumental performance. It did not take long for the program to experience a renaissance under her leadership.  She mentored students and challenged them to stretch and grow in her classroom.  She supported them to reach the goals she set and they happily worked hard to achieve them.

I have no doubt that she will raise the bar of excellence for all students in Wake County.  She understands what it takes to be a successful educator and will do all she can to support teachers and administrators to be the best they can be and making Wake County a school district to be emulated.

I am proud to endorse my friend, Heather Scott. for the Wake Co BoE. Students, parents, teachers, and administrators would be incredibly fortunate to gain someone as smart, fair, and compassionate as Heather to guide our public school system. I know she will bring the same commitment to this position as she does as a volunteer for the Team Drea Foundation for ALS research that I run. Please help spread the word and vote for Heather!
